Heritage Leather bags are a blend of natural full-grain leather, the finest solid brass hardware, a thoughtful design and careful craftsmanship.

Each bag is treated as an individual as our many hand operations do not easily lend themselves to mass production.

The leather used is cowhide, glove-tanned to render it soft and supple. No heavy pigments or finishes mask its natural beauty. Instead, clear aniline dyes are applied to enhance its appearance. With use, the leather developes a warm, rich patina character all its own. Leathers such as these are said to have a nice "hand" due to their luxurious feel.

Each hide is distinctive and must be carefully scrutinized for quality, colour and temper to determine how it should be cut, taking care to incorporate the natural scars, scratches and wrinkles in the least obvious way.

Monk's Cloth, woven from strands of polypropylene, has been used in the fabric and leather combination bags. It is lightweight, durable, mildew and soil resistant, and has been treated to be water-repellent. Of course, the leather that trims these bags is the same as we use in the all-leather versions.

The finishing touch is the mellow glow of real brass from which all the hardware and zippers are made.

The result is a classic premium quality product, designed to last. Naturally, our products are guaranteed against defects in material and workmanship.
